New Pakistani drilling contractor starts work

A drilling contractor formed by Pakistan Hashoo Group planned to spud an exploratory well with its first land rig in the district of Bahawalnagar, Punjab, by the end of March.

KARACHI, Apr. 9 -- A drilling contractor formed by Pakistan Hashoo Group planned to spud an exploratory well with its first land rig in the district of Bahawalnagar, Punjab, by the end of March.

Pakistan Hashoo Group operates in Pakistan through Orient Petroleum International Inc. (OPII) and Zaver Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (ZPCL).

The new drilling contractor is Global Drilling Co. Pvt. Ltd. (GDCPL). It will work for OPII, ZPCL, and partners, initially with a 1,500 hp land rig.

Target depth of the first well, OPII Maharvi-1, is 7,300 ft.
