Aker BP ASA has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) for wells in Barents Sea production license PL 858.
Wells 7234/6-1 and 7234/6-1 A—the first two exploration wells in the license—will be drilled from the Deepsea Nordkapp drilling rig about 165 kn south of the 7435/12-1 discovery well and about 455 km northeast of Hammerfest after concluding drilling of well 7322/6-1 S for Equinor Energy AS in PL 722 (OGJ Online, Mar. 29, 2021).
Aker BP is operator with 40% interest. Partners are Lukoil Overseas North Shelf AS (20%), Petoro AS (20%), and Equinor Energy AS (20%).
The area in the license consists of parts of Blocks 7234/3, 7234/6, 7235/1, 7235/2, 7235/3, 7235/4 and 7235/5.
