HOUSTON, Apr. 10 -- Alberta's Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has made available for review draft directives for Section 12 on heavy oil measurement and Section 13 on condensate measurement.
The sections are part of Directive 017 that the board has been developing in stages since Feb. 1, 2005. ERCB requests that stakeholders send in comments on the drafts by May 29.
The drafts are available on the ERCB website, www.ercb.ca, under Industry zone—Rules, regulations, and requirements—Directives.
Section 12 on heavy oil measurement provides the requirements and exceptions for heavy oil and crude bitumen facilities but does not cover crude bitumen production through mining.
ERCB notes Section 12 highlights include measurement of heavy oil production, blending and flashing shrinkages, batteries, produced gas determination, well testing requirements, and single-point measurement uncertainties for various applications not covered in Section 1.
Section 13 on condensate measurement provides requirements and exceptions for condensate reporting associated with gas well production. Some highlights include definition of types of condensate, condensate reporting requirements and scenarios, and condensate volume determination.
