PBF Energy Inc. reported unplanned shutdowns of certain units on Jan. 7 at its 185,000-b/d refinery in Paulsboro, NJ.
A loss of steam caused the shutdown of the units, the company said.
Refinery personnel are evaluating the outage and assessing the potential impact to operations, PBF said.
No timetable was available as to when the unidentified units might restart, and the refinery’s current processing capacity was not disclosed.
The Paulsboro refinery along with PBF’s 190,000-b/d Delaware City, Del., refinery, which is about 30 miles south, remain the only two refineries on the East Coast with coking capacity, according to the company’s web site. The Paulsboro plant processes a variety of medium and heavy sour crudes to produce gasoline, heating oil, and aviation jet fuel.
