Enable Midstream Partners LP has received approval from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to build and operate the 1.7-bcfd Gulf Run natural gas pipeline. The 42-in. OD line is designed to transport gas from Haynesville, Marcellus, Utica, and Barnett shales and the midcontinent to the US Gulf Coast and is backed by a 20-year commitment for 1.1 bcfd from cornerstone shipper Golden Pass LNG.

Contractor bidding for Gulf Run is underway, with a late-2022 in-service date anticipated. Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil’s 16-million tonne/year Golden Pass export project in Sabine Pass, Tex., is expected to enter service in 2024.

Enable estimates project cost at $540 million.

Energy Transfer LP acquired Enable earlier this year in a $7.2-billion all-equity transaction (OGJ Online, Feb. 17, 2021).
