Coastal Bend LNG lets contract to KBR, Técnicas Reunidas for FEED and EPC
Coastal Bend LNG has let a contract to KBR Inc. and Técnicas Reunidas for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of its planned 22.5 million tonnes/year (tpy) natural gas liquefaction and export plant on the Texas Gulf Coast.
The Coastal Bend LNG project will feature multiple liquefaction trains, cogeneration, LNG storage tanks, and export infrastructure. The project will utilize ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade Process (COP OCP) technology to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
KBR will lead the FEED effort, including the entire inside battery limits scope–covering LNG liquefaction and nitrogen rejection (COP OCP technology), gas treatment, and heavy hydrocarbon removal (Honeywell UOP technologies). The company also will provide overall coordination between the parties and support Coastal Bend in FERC filings and permitting, it noted.
Upon positive final investment decision, KBR and Técnicas Reunidas will proceed to execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase of the project, Coastal Bend LNG said in a release Jan. 12.
