Venture Global, Eni sign 20-year LNG supply agreement
Venture Global Inc. has executed a new agreement with Eni SPA, marking the Italy-based company’s first ever long-term agreement with a US LNG producer, Venture Global said in a release July 16.
The 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) will see Venture Global supply 2 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG from the 28-million tpy CP2 LNG plant currently under construction in Cameron Parish, La. Eni's offtake is expected to begin by the end of the decade, Eni said in a separate release.
A portion of the volumes will contribute to the diversification of Europe's gas supplies, Eni said, noting the agreement is part of the company's strategy to expand and diversify its global LNG footprint.
To date, about 13.5 million tpy of CP2 Phase 1 have been sold, Venture Global said, increasing the total contracted capacity for all of its projects to 43.5 million tpy.
The agreement comes on the heels of a purchase agreement amendment signed between Venture Global and Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (SEFE) under which SEFE’s subsidiary, SEFE Energy GmbH, will purchase an additional 0.75 million tpy of LNG from CP2 LNG (OGJ Online, July 9, 2025).
