Delfin Midstream Inc. and Centrica PLC have signed a contract for 1-million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG to be supplied to Centrica on a free-on-board basis for 15-years. The LNG will lifted from the planned 14-million tpy Delfin Deepwater Port, 40 miles off the coast of Louisiana.
The deal follows a heads of agreement between Centrica and Delfin in August 2022. Operations at the Delfin Deepwater Port are expected to start in 2027.
Centrica will take delivery of around 14 cargoes/year. Centrica reopened its Rough gas storage site offshore UK in October 2022 and this month increased its capacity to 54 bcf (OGJ Online, July 3, 2023).
Delfin Deepwater Port will consist of four floating LNG (FLNG) plants, each capable of producing 3.5 million tpy of LNG via gas delivered by existing offshore pipelines. The company last month entered an investment agreement with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd., the proceeds of which will be used to accelerate final investment decisions on its first two plants later this year (OGJ Online, June 9, 2023).
