HOUSTON, Feb. 22 -- MOL Hungarian Oil & Gas PLC made a sixth discovery on the Tal block in Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province.
The Tolanj X-1 exploratory well drillstem tested 16.3 MMcfd of gas from the upper 48 m of drilled section on a 32/64-in. choke at 2,392 psi flowing wellhead pressure from the Cretaceous Lumshiwal formation at an undisclosed depth. Drilling continued to deeper objectives.
The block’s previous discoveries are Manzalai, Makori, Mami Khel, Maramzai, and Makori East. Those earlier wells tapped oil and/or gas-condensate in Jurassic Samana Suk, Lumshiwal, Upper Cretaceous Hangu, and Paleogene Lockhart.
MOL Pakistan operates the block on behalf of itself and Oil & Gas Development Corp. Ltd., Pakistan Petroleum Ltd., Pakistan Oilfields Ltd., and Government Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. It was awarded the block in 1999. MOL is involved in four blocks in the general area.
