Talos Energy appoints Shell executive as CEO

Feb. 4, 2025
Paul Goodfellow has spent over 30 years in various roles at Shell plc.

Talos Energy Inc., Houston, appointed Paul Goodfellow as president, chief executive officer, and a member of the board of directors, effective Mar. 1, 2025.

Goodfellow holds over 30 years of domestic and international experience in the oil and natural gas industry during a career starting in 1991 at Shell plc.

Goodfellow's start date coincides with the operator's previously stated plan to have a new chief executive in the role by the end of this year's first quarter. Mills served in the role following the 2024 resignation of Tim Duncan.

At Shell, Goodfellow held various senior executive roles, including leading Shell's global deepwater business, which included the US Gulf of Mexico, Offshore Mexico, Brazil, West Africa, Malaysia, the North Sea and other international areas. He also held positions overseeing Shell's global drilling, completion, and well intervention organization and served as a member of the project and technology and upstream leadership teams.

He currently serves as executive vice-president and group chief internal auditor, overseeing Shell's internal audit function. He has served on the board of directors and as chairman for Shell Midstream Partners.

From April 2019 to August 2023, he led Shell's global deepwater business as executive vice-president, deep water. He has also served as executive vice-president, wells, vice-president and managing director, UK and Ireland and vice-president, unconventionals US and Canada.
