Murphy Exploration & Production Co – USA, a unit of Murphy Oil Corp., has acquired non-operated working interest in Eagle Ford assets from Amplify Energy Corp., Houston.

Through the agreement, which closed July 1, 2025, Amplify sold all of its non-operated Eagle Ford working interests for $23 million, the company said in a July 1 release.

According to its website, Amplify Energy’s Eagle Ford properties contained 2.5 MMboe of estimated net proved reserves as of Dec. 31, 2024.

A May 2025 investor presentation showed Amplify's 100% non-operated position (~8% average working interest in about 800 net acres) in Karnes County, Tex., is operated primarily by Murphy and that the company at the time had been participating in the completion of 14 gross (0.7 net) nonoperated wells and two gross (0.4 net) completions.

Amplify Energy said net proceeds from the sale will be used for debt reduction. "With an improved balance sheet," the company said, it is considering "adding back high-return Beta [Southern California] development wells" this year that were deferred in May.

In a June 2025 investor presentation ahead of the acquisition announcement, Murphy noted 2025-2026 plans to maintain Eagle Ford shale production of 30,000–35,000 boe/d.
