Equinor starts production at Halten East

April 1, 2025

Equinor Energy AS started production at the Halten East (Øst) development in the Norwegian Sea.

Halten East is a tie-in development in the Kristin-Åsgard area, and the first phase consists of six wells from five discoveries. Now, gas from the first well, Gamma, is on stream.
The project has flexibility for three prospects and uses existing infrastructure and processing capacity at Åsgard B. From there gas will be sent to Kårstø for further export to Europe via pipeline.

The second phase is planned for 2029. It will include a sidetrack and an additional three possible wells. The total investment of the project is around NOK 9 billion for both phases.
The reservoirs of Halten East contain gas and condensate. The recoverable reserves are estimated at about 100 MMboe. The plan for development and operation was approved by authorities in February of 2023.

Equinor is operator with 69.5% interest. Partners are Vår Energi ASA (24.6%) and Petoro AS (5.9%).
