Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Co. (SNEPCo), a Shell plc subsidiary, has let a contract to TechnipFMC to supply subsea production systems for the Bonga North development in Nigeria.
SNEPCo sanctioned the deep-water project, to sustain oil and gas production at the Shell-operated Bonga floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, earlier this week (OGJ Online, Dec. 16, 2024).
The contract, valued by the service provider at $250-500 million, covers the design and manufacture of subsea tree systems, manifolds, jumpers, controls, and services.
Bonga North currently has an estimated recoverable resource volume of more than 300 MMboe and is expected to reach a peak production of 110,000 b/d of oil, with first oil anticipated by the end of the decade, SNEPCo said in a release Dec. 16.
