Afentra PLC signed an award for onshore Angola license KON 19 with Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis (ANPG).
The 25,000-sq km license lies in Kwanza basin and contains numerous oil fields and discoveries dating back to 1955. Both KON15 and KON19 blocks show good signs of a working petroleum system, Afentra said in a release. The blocks are adjacent to legacy oil fields currently being appraised for potential re-development, as well as existing infrastructure, the company noted.
Afentra has been assigned a 45% non-operated interest in KON 19. ACREP is operator (45%) and Enagol holds the remaining 10%.
