HOUSTON, Mar. 11 -- Norway's Statoil ASA appointed Helge Lund as CEO, effective Aug. 15. Lund currently is chief executive of Aker Kvaerner ASA.
Statoil Executive Vice-President Erling Overland was appointed acting CEO until Lund takes over.
Meanwhile, Inge K. Hansen stepped down as Statoil's acting CEO to take over as chief executive of engineering company Aker Kvaerner.
Lund will fill a vacancy created when Olav Fjell and two other officers resigned in the wake of an investigation into whether the hiring of a consultant constituted a bribe to win contracts in Iran (OGJ Online, Sept. 23, 2003).
