Equinor has extended a contract with consulting and engineering company Wood to deliver maintenance and modification solutions to the Peregrino assets off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Through the $80 million, 2-year contract extension, Wood will continue to provide maintenance solutions to optimize Peregrino wellhead platforms and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, delivering engineering, prefabrication, and outfitting, offshore installation, commissioning, and turnaround support.
The reimbursable contract is supported by 500 employees. During the next maintenance campaign scheduled to start in May 2024, the team will be based on an offshore flotel to increase productivity levels, Wood said in a release Feb. 1.
According to Equinor, more than 220 million bbl have been produced at Peregrino since 2011. With production of 110,000 b/d of oil, Peregrino is the largest production field operated by Equinor outside of Norway.
Peregrino Phase 2 produced its first oil in 2022 and will extend the life of the field until 2040. It will also add 250-300 million bbl of oil to the asset, according to Equinor’s website. The field consists of an FPSO accompanied by three fixed platforms: Alfa, Bravo, and Charlie.
