OGDCL discovers hydrocarbons in Bannu basin
Oil and Gas Development Company Ltd. (OGDCL) made a gas and condensate discovery in the Bettani-02 (Slant) well in the Wali Exploration License in District Laki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan.
Based on initial testing results, the discovery marks the first hydrocarbon find in the Samanasuk formation, the company said in a release Dec. 13. The find also has further extended the hydrocarbon play area in the southwestern part of Bannu basin and de-risked the exploration potential of deeper reservoirs, for which OGDCL has formulated an exploration program, it said.
The appraisal well was drilled to a depth of 5,080 m into a Shinawari formation exploratory zone. During drilling, a 247-m thick Samanasuk formation was penetrated. Cased hole drill stem test 1 (DST-1) flowed at a rate of 2.14 MMscfd of gas and 74 b/d of condensate on a 32/64-in. choke with a wellhead flowing pressure of 435 psi.

OGDCL has 100% working interest in the Wali Exploration License.
