Canacol Energy discovers gas in Colombia
Canacol Energy provided an update on its drilling and development program in Colombia, highlighting discoveries made in November.
The company discovered gas at the Kite-1 well in the Ciénaga de Oro formation in the Córdoba department, between Palmer and Pomelo gas fields. The well revealed a gas column of 102 ft true vertical depth (TVD) and, after successful flow tests, began production on Nov. 26. Current output is 10.5 MMcfd, the company said in a release.
The Nispero-2 appraisal well in the Sucre department, drilled in the same formation, identified a gas column of 625 ft and has been producing about 9.5 MMcfd since Nov. 13.
The operator also provided updates on additional wells.
Natilla-2 has reached a depth of 10,405 ft. It is targeting a prospect within the Ciénaga de Oro formation. In the Cesar department, near the recent Chontaduro-1 discovery, the company began drilling the Pibe-1 well on Nov. 23.
The company has mobilized equipment to begin drilling the Clarinete-11 development well, which is expected to begin in second-half December, with results anticipated before yearend.
