CNOOC discovers Bozhong 26-6 oilfield

CNOOC Ltd. discovered the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield south of Bohai Sea in 22 m of water. The discovery adds another 100 million tons of reserves, the company said in a release Feb. 28.

Discovery well BZ26-6-2 was drilled and completed at a depth of 4,480 m and encountered a total 321.3 m of oil pay zones. The main oil-bearing play is Archean buried hill, and the oil is light crude.

The well flowed at an average 2,040 b/d crude oil and 11.45 MMcfd natural gas during a test.
