Petrobras discovered hydrocarbons in an exploratory well in North Brava block in the Campos basin presalt, 105 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro in 575 m of water.

Drilling of 1-BRSA-1394-RJS has been completed and final logging is currently being carried out. The hydrocarbon carrier interval was verified through electrical profiles, gas evidence, and fluid sampling, which will be later characterized by laboratory analysis, the company said in a release last week.

Petrobras will complete the well and characterize conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found. This data will assess the potential and direct the next exploratory activities in the area.

Petrobras is operator of North Brava block with 100% interest.
