LONDON, Apr. 30 -- OMV AG has started the extended well test for Tajjal-1 in southern Pakistan, which will run for 3 months after it initially produced 4,000 boe/d.
Once results are collected, OMV will decide on an appraisal program with partners Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Eni SPA, and Government Holdings Private Ltd. (GHPL). They will present a field development plan to the government and, if approved, this will boost Tajjal's gas production from 2011 onwards.
This well is significant because it discovered the Tajjal gas field, which lies 120 km southeast of Sukkur in southern Pakistan's province of Sindh.
As part of the fast-track development, the gas is transported via a 20-km pipeline to the Sawan gas plant, which is operated by OMV Pakistan," OMV said. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd. is the gas buyer and will send this additional gas from Tajjal to northern Pakistan.
Partners in the Gambat exploration license are OMV with 35%, Eni 30%, PPL 30%, and GHPL 5%.
