Vår Energi drills duster at North Sea Kokopelli prospect

The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Upper Cretaceous limestone rocks in the Tor formation. The well encountered 94 m of poor-quality limestone rocks in the Tor formation.

Vår Energi ASA drilled a dry well on the “Kokopelli” prospect, south of the Sleipner area in the North Sea.

Wildcat well 7/1-4 S lies in production license 1090 in an area where two previous exploration wells were drilled, both of which were dry.

The newest prospect was drilled using the COSL Pioneer semisubmersible drilling rig to a vertical depth of 2,488 m subsea. It was terminated in the Hod formation in the Upper Cretaceous. Water depth at the site is 81 m.

The well has been permanently plugged.

Vår Energi is operator of the license with 50% interest. Partners are Petoro AS (20%), Aker BP ASA (20%), and Equinor Energy AS (10%).
