Chevron unit drills dry hole offshore Namibia
Harmattan Energy Ltd., an indirect subsidiary of Chevron Corp., drilled a dry hole in its Kapana 1-X exploration well on Block 2813B in PEL 90, Namibia Orange basin, said Sintana Energy Inc. in a Jan. 15 release.
While operations reached total depth 25% ahead of plan, the well did not find commercial hydrocarbons. Operations returned valuable information on important aspects of the basin and increased confidence in the future program on PEL 90, Sintana said.
The PEL 90 license covers 5,433 sq km offshore southern Namibia in water depths of 2,300-3,300 m.
Harmattan Energy is operator of PEL 90 (90%) with partner Trago Energy (Pty) Ltd., holding the remaining 10%.
