Equinor comes up dry with Norwegian Sea Løvmeis prospect
Equinor Energy AS has classified a recent Norwegian Sea exploration well as dry.
The operator drilled well 6608/10-R-2—the Løvmeis prospect—about 15 km northeast of Norne field, the first in production license 1013.
The well was drilled with the Transocean Encourage rig to vertical and measured depths of 2,346 m and 3,812 m subsea. It was terminated in the Ile formation in the Middle Jurassic. Water depth at the site is 358 m.
The well was drilled 30 m into the Ile formation and encountered sandstone with good reservoir quality.
The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks in the Ile and Tofte formations, according to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.
The well has been plugged.
Equinor is operator of the license with 40% interest. Partners are ORLEN Upstream Norway AS (40%) and Petrolia NOCO AS (20%).
