Aker BP lets contract for Yggdrasil power from shore project
Aker BP let a contract to Multiconsult Norge AS for civil engineering, consultancy, and supervision services for the operator’s Yggdrasil power from shore project.
The contract is valid until end-2027 and has an estimated value of about NOK 400 million.
On Mar. 31, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) awarded Aker BP a license to connect platforms in the Yggdrasil area to the power grid in Samnanger in Vestland County, Norway (OGJ Online, Mar. 31, 2023).
The concept includes a new transformer station at Børdalen in Samnanger, a new 11-km 145 kV powerline in Samnanger, a compensation station at Årskog in Fitjar and a 250-km 145 kV sea cable from Samnanger to the Yggdrasil area in the North Sea.
Multiconsult will provide all necessary onshore civil engineering for the power from shore system. The company will also deliver consultancy and supervision services related to the preparation and follow up of the power license, such as environmental assessments, dialogue with authorities, necessary applications, and site work.
The Storting approved the plans for development and operation of the Yggdrasil area on June 5 (OGJ Online, June 5, 2023). The development, which lies between Alvheim and Oseberg in the North Sea, contains several discoveries with total recoverable resources of around 650 MMboe. Yggdrasil is a comprehensive subsea development with a total of nine subsea templates. The plan calls for 55 wells in the area, to be developed using power from shore.
