CNOOC Ltd. has started production from the Huizhou 26-6 oilfield development project in the northern part of the South China Sea.

The development, in the Pearl River Mouth basin with an average water depth of about 110 m, includes a new drilling production platform and the modified Nan Hai Fen Jin FPSO, the company said in a release Dec. 1.

A total of 19 development wells are planned to be commissioned, including two oil production wells and 17 gas production wells. The project is expected to achieve a peak production of 20,600 boe/d in 2027. The main products include light crude and natural gas.

The project, CNOOC’s first deep buried hill reservoir development project in the South China Sea, will contribute to the economic and social development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay area, the company said.

CNOOC is operator of the project with 100% interest.
