CNOOC starts first ultradeep Bohia Bay well
CNOOC Ltd. has started production from the D1 well in Bozhong 19-6 condensate gas field in Bohai Bay.
D1 was drilled to a depth of 6,088 m. It is the company’s first ultradeep well in Bohai Bay and produces about 6,300 boe/d.
Bozhong 19-6 main production infrastructure lies in average water depth of about 23 m and includes a wellhead platform with 10 development wells planned to be commissioned. The project is expected to achieve a peak production of about 5,800 boe/d in 2026 (OGJ Online, May 7, 2024).
The field contains proven oil and gas in place of more than 200 billion cu m of natural gas and more than 200 million cu m of oil. It is the first gas field of such a size in the deep buried-hill play offshore China and is currently producing about 37,500 boe/d.
In 2020, 2023, and 2024, the company has gradually brought on-stream the Bozhong 19-6 Condensate Gas Field Pilot Area Development Project, Phase I Development Project, and 13-2 Block 5 Well Site Development Project.
CNOOC is operator and holds 100% interest in the project.
