Kvaerner ASA and KBR Inc. have agreed to establish a joint venture to competitively bid on offshore platform topsides contracts for field development of Johan Sverdrup offshore Norway.
The companies say the alliance combines Kvaerner’s knowledge and resources as a turnkey contractor for offshore platforms with KBR’s competence as an international offshore contractor.
The first development phase for Johan Sverdrup is expected to include four offshore platforms for a new field center.
Kvaerner in June signed a letter of intent with Statoil ASA for the delivery of two jackets to Johan Sverdrup (OGJ Online, June 26, 2014).
