ExxonMobil increases Guyana production 68% year-over-year
ExxonMobil has increased oil production in Guyana’s Stabroek block to 640,000 b/d, an increase of about 68%, according to Huzefa Ali, production director of ExxonMobil in Guyana.
In a press conference, Ali said at the Liza I project, the Liza Destiny floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel produces about 160,000 b/d, while at the Liza II project, the Liza Unity FPSO achieved 250,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Feb. 14, 2022). At the Payara project, oil production from the Prosperity FPSO has reached about 230,000 b/d (OGJ Online, Nov. 14, 2023)
Alistair Routledge, president of ExxonMobil Guyana, attributed the growth to a de-bottlenecking process of identifying areas where equipment configurations can be modified to increase production.
Stabroek block is held through a consortium comprised of ExxonMobil (operator, 45%), Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. (30%), and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Ltd. (25%). Reserves are estimated at 11 billion bbl. The area lies over 200 km offshore Guyana and spans more than 6.6 million acres.
ExxonMobil aims to produce more than 1.2 million bbl of oil and gas from the block by 2027.
