Valeura Energy Inc. restarted oil production at Wassana field in license G10/48 in Pattani basin, Gulf of Thailand on Dec. 8, 2023.

Valeura intends to mobilize its contracted drilling rig to the field and bring additional wells online to ramp up production volumes, the company said in a release Dec. 11. The company plans to conduct an infill drilling program comprising three production-oriented horizontal development wells targeting deeper reservoir intervals within the field.

In September, Valeura Energy drilled two appraisal wells in the license. Results showed that additional production wells are viable within the reservoir (OGJ Online, Sept. 18, 2023). Valeura plans to expand the field’s development by deploying additional wellhead and oil processing structures to increase production hub capacity.

Wassana oil field is a collection of crude oil-bearing sandstone reservoir intervals of Miocene age. The field is estimated to contain 2P reserves of 6.1 million bbl of oil as of Dec. 31, 2022.

Valeura holds 100% operated interest in the license.
