Baytex Energy Corp., Calgary, has shut-in about 20,000 boe/d of production from operations in the Peace River and Peavine regions of northwest Alberta since the morning of May 13 due to wildfires in the area.
Additionally, in west-central Alberta, some 4,000 boe/d remains shut-in since the evening of May 5 due to shut-in of third-party infrastructure, the company said in an update May 15.
Baytex has been producing in the Peace River area since 1999. The heavy oil asset is developed primarily via cold-flow horizontal multi-lateral wells targeting the Bluesky and Clearwater formations. Production in this year’s first quarter was 24,500 boe/d.
