Cidade de Caraguatatuba FPSO arrives in Lapa field offshore Brazil

The Cidade de Caraguatatuba floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has arrived in Petroleo Brasilierio SA-operated Lapa field in the Santos basin presalt, where the unit’s production system is slated to start up in August.
The 337.4-m-long, 28.8-m-high FPSO can produce 100,000 b/d of oil, store 1.6 million bbl of oil, and compress 5 million cu m/day of gas.
Integration of the FPSO was recently completed in the BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis. The hull was constructed Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding’s shipyard in Chiba, Japan, while the integration of modules took place at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.
Lapa field is 270 km offshore Sao Paulo in 2,140 m of water. The BM-S-9 block is operated by Petrobras with 45% interest. Partners are Royal Dutch Shell PLC unit BG E&P Brasil Ltda. 30% and Repsol Sinopec Brasil SA 25%.
