General Hydrocarbons lets rig contract for Nigeria operations

General Hydrocarbons Ltd. (GHL), Lagos, has let a 12-month contract to Dolphin Drilling for the Blackford Dolphin drilling rig for work in Nigeria, the service provider said in a release Oct. 5.

The semisubmersible rig, which recently completed work in the Gulf of Mexico for PEMEX, will mobilize to Las Palmas for its special periodic survey prior to beginning operations for GHL in this year’s fourth quarter, the company said.

Dolphin Drilling values the contract at $96 million.
