PTTEP contractor completes project offshore Malaysia
PTTEP Sabah Oil Ltd.’s Kikeh subsea gas lift project has advanced as McDermott has completed transportation, installation, and commissioning activities for the project.
The work includes upgrades essential to maintaining gas delivery to the subsea production system tied back the Kikeh floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, McDermott said in a release Feb.5.
PTTEP awarded the contract in 2024 (OGJ Online, Mar. 27, 2024).
Kikeh, a producing field, lies 75 miles (120 km) northwest of the island of Labuan, offshore Sabah in East Malaysia. The project, executed by McDermott’s Kuala Lumpur based team, was executed in water depths of about 1,400 m, and was completed in this year’s first quarter.
The work scope included the replacement of an existing gas lift riser, and the installation of a new dynamic riser section, flowline, and two thermoplastic composite pipe jumpers.
Kikeh came on stream in 2009 as one of the largest deepwater developments in Malaysia at the time.
