Equinor has let separate contracts to John Wood Group PLC for strategic modification projects to be implemented at subsidiary Equinor Refining Norway AS’s 9.3 million-tonne/year in Mongstad, Norway, near Bergen.
The scope of the first contract includes front-end engineering design for a gas residue debottlenecking project, and while the second contract covers engineering and procurement (EP) services for a project to reduce sulfur content in gasoline produced at the refinery, Wood said.
The contracts will be delivered by Wood’s Norwegian engineering teams based in Sandefjord and Bergen, with support drawn from the service provider’s global expertise.
Without disclosing either the values or durations of these latest FEED and EP contracts, Wood did confirm it completed FEED and analysis for modifications at the Mongstad refinery’s naphtha hydrotreating and storage systems earlier this year (OGJ Online, Apr. 9, 2018).
These contracts come as part of a maintenance, modification, and operations (MMO) framework agreement Wood secured with Equinor in 2015, the service provider said.
Wood said the MMO agreement—valued at about $400 million—covers delivery of maintenance and modification services to four of Equinor’s installations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
