CVR Energy begins turnaround at Kansas refinery following winter storm damage
Jan. 24, 2025
CVR Energy Inc., Sugar Land, Tex., has started its planned turnaround at the 132,000-b/d Coffeyville, Kan., refinery operated by Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing LLC following damage sustained to its naphtha hydrotreater on Jan. 21, 2025, during freezing weather conditions. Temperatures in the area ranged from 0-24° as Winter Storm Enzo moved through the US.
In December 2024, CVR said it had first-quarter 2025 plans for turnaround work at the refinery as part of the petroleum segment's $170-190-million capital expenditures budget.
The catalytic cracking/delayed coking refinery processes moderately heavy, medium sulfur crude oil from various domestic and international sources. The refinery predominantly produces gasoline, diesel fuels, and propane.
CVR said it plans to provide further updates regarding the turnaround during its next earnings conference call.
