Kuwait National Petroleum Co. (KPNC) has let a contract to AMEC to provide project engineering and management services for Kuwait’s Mina Al Ahmadi, Mina Abdullah, and Shuaiba refineries.
The 5-year call-off contract, which has an optional 1-year extension, is worth as much as 72 million dinar (£158 million), AMEC said.
Under the contract, AMEC will be responsible for services including feasibility studies, front-end engineering design (FEED), project management consultancy services, and training of Kuwaiti engineers, according to AMEC.
The contract also involves providing studies and FEEDs to KNPC’s local marketing and projects department on a call-off basis for its in-country petroleum storage and transportation facilities, AMEC said.
This latest contract for the 270,000-b/d Mina Abdullah, 466,000-b/d Mina Al Ahmadi, and 200,000-b/d Shuaiba refineries follows KNPC’s plans to increase the country’s refining capacity under Kuwait’s Clean Fuels Project (OGJ Online, Apr. 1, 2013).
