Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) is in the process of resuming operations at its Hazira gas processing complex near Surat, Gujarat, following the plant’s shutdown in the wake of an early morning fire on Sept. 24.
The fire, which broke out shortly after 3:00 a.m. local time following a leak from a gas pipeline, was extinguished by 7:30 a.m., and all efforts are under way to restart plant operations as soon as possible, ONGC said.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, and the precise cause of the fire is now under investigation, according to the operator.
ONGC disclosed no further details regarding the fire’s impact to equipment at the site, nor did it reveal an estimated timeline for when plant operations would resume.
