Independent refiner HollyFrontier Corp., Dallas, is undertaking a project to expand production of cleaner fuels at subsidiary HollyFrontier Woods Cross Refining LLC’s 45,000-b/sd Woods Cross refinery in West Bountiful, Utah, just north of Salt Lake City.

Woods Cross Refining is making “a major investment” to begin producing low-sulfur fuels that comply with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 emissions control requirements for motor fuels and vehicles, HollyFrontier said in an Apr. 2 post to its official LinkedIn page.

The operator, however, disclosed no further details directly regarding the proposed project or the value of its proposed “major” investment.

While HollyFrontier’s social media post linked to a local news media story that cited an official news release from the company as the source for the story, such a release was not made available to general media, nor was it published to the refiner’s websites or distributed via news wires as of Apr. 2.
