Enterprise lets contract for Mont Belvieu PDH unit
Enterprise Products Partners LP has let a contract to Honeywell UOP LLC to provide its proprietary C3 Oleflex technology for a second propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant at its operations in Mont Belvieu, Tex.
As part of the contract, Honeywell UOP will deliver licensing for the Oleflex technology, in addition to engineering, catalysts, adsorbents, services, and equipment for the PDH2 plant, will produce 750,000 tonnes/year of polymer-grade propylene as part of Enterprise’s expansion of propylene manufacturing capacity, the service provider said.
The PDH2 unit is scheduled to begin service in first-half 2023.
The new unit is intended to help Enterprise take advantage of low-cost propane and meet rising demand for on-purpose propylene, said Bryan Glover, vice president and general manager of Honeywell UOP’s petrochemicals and refining technologies business.
A value of the contract was not disclosed.
Since 1993, Enterprise has operated a UOP C4 Oleflex unit, which converts isobutane to isobutylene, and is currently is building a second C4 Oleflex unit at Mont Belvieu, Honeywell UOP said.
