TGN has completed upgrades at its Deán Funes and Ferreyra compressor stations, advancing the Northern Gas Pipeline reversal project.

Transportadora de Gas del Norte SA (TGN) has completed upgrades at its Deán Funes and Ferreyra compressor stations, advancing the Northern Gas Pipeline reversal project which aims to expand Argentina's gas transport system, enabling Vaca Muerta gas to reach the northern provinces and replacing Bolivian imports.

The changes, along with earlier modifications at Tío Pujio and Leones plants, will allow TGN to reverse the gas flow from Córdoba to Tucumán and Salta, increasing natural gas supply to homes, industries, and power plants in the provinces.

The project will increase gas flow to 15 MMcmd from 10 MMcmd once construction of both a 36-in. OD, 122-km pipeline between Tío Pujio and La Carlota and the first 31 km of a 30-in. loop between Tío Pujio and Ferreyra are completed.

Deán Funes and Ferreyra stations in Córdoba were upgraded as part of the project. Deán Funes, with 9,700 HP, has been operational since 1960, while Ferreyra, with 3,060 HP, has been in operation since 1989.

Last week, Techint-SACDE completed a 100-km, 36-in. OD pipeline in Córdoba ahead of schedule.
