Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMEP) has launched a binding open season to solicit commitments for the proposed $1-billion, 167,000 b/d Palmetto project that would move gasoline, diesel, and ethanol from Louisiana and Mississippi to South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
The project includes a segment of expansion capacity to be leased from KMEP-operated Plantation Pipe Line Co. between Baton Rouge, La., and Belton, SC, as well as construction of a 360-mile pipeline from Belton to Jacksonville, Fla.
“The Palmetto project would provide access to new markets in the Southeast for pipeline shippers looking to move refined petroleum products from the Gulf Coast,” said Ron McClain, KMEP president, products pipelines. “Pending customer commitments from the open season and timely regulatory approvals, the project could be in service by July 2017.”
The binding open season ends Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. CDT.
