Houston, has named John B. Reed as chief executive officer, and promoted Christophe Tam to president of North America operations. Reed succeeds company founder Willem J. Timmermans, who is retiring.

Reed has 22 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, most recently serving as president and business acquisition manager of Heerema Marine Contractors' North and South America divisions. He holds a BS in engineering from the University of Mississippi at Oxford, an MBA from Delta State University, Cleveland, Miss., and completed an executive development program from IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Tam

Tam joined Intec in 1998, and previously served as the company's vice-president of operations. He earned a BS degree in civil engineering and a PhD in structural engineering, both from the University of London.

Gas Technology Institute (GTI)

Des Plaines, Ill., has announced that its new flex-fuel test facility will be dedicated to Dr. Henry R. Linden, a prominent figure in shaping and leading research and education programs for the US natural gas industry for more than 50 years. Linden is currently the Max McGraw professor of energy and power engineering and management, and director of the energy and power center at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and serves on GTI's strategic advisory council.

The flex-fuel test facility will be used for research on thermo-chemical processes for converting various feedstocks, such as coal and biomass, into fuels, chemicals, and hydrogen.

Mannesmann Line Pipe and Stupp Corp.

Houston, have agreed to form a North American joint sales company called Stupp & Mannesmann Line Pipe LLC. The new company will provide customers with both onshore and offshore projects with a single source for ERW/HFI line pipe from 85/8" through 24" diameters, up to .812 in wall thicknesses, and grades up to X80.

Mannesmann Line Pipe is a member of Mannesmannrohren-Werke Group.

Stupp Corp. is a division of Stupp Bros.

Clariant Oil Services

Houston, has appointed Brian Lambert as global marketing manager, Raymond Stirton as area manager-UK, and John Jex as area manager-Middle East & Mediterranean.

Lambert, who holds a BS in chemistry with biochemistry from the University of Leicester, and an MBA from the University of Hull, has 19 years of experience in production and refinery chemicals industries.

Stirton, based in Aberdeen, has more than 18 years in the industry, including postings to Oman and Abu Dhabi.

Jex, who has a BS in applied chemistry from the University of Coventry, will relocate to Aberdeen from Jakarta.

Clariant Oil Services is a leading provider of chemical treatments and integrated services, including demulsification; hydrate, wax and asphaltene control; scale and corrosion management.

Earth (Canada) Corp.

Montreal, has appointed Pierre Coutou as chairman of the board, and Serge Fraser as vice-president of R&D and operations.

Coutou, an engineer by training, previously served as vice-president of advanced technologies and telecommunications at Societe Innovatech du Grand Montreal, a large shareholder of Earth (Canada). He also is a lecturer at two Montreal schools and the University of Quebec.

Fraser holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

Earth (Canada) Corp., Environmental Applied Research Technology House, is a leader in hydrocarbon remediation technology.

Paradigm

London, has announced the appointment of Chris Usher as senior corporate vice-president, integrated services. A geophysical expert, Usher has been involved for the past 20 years with the data processing market.

Paradigm provides information solutions to the oil and gas exploration and production industry from its offices in 19 countries.
