Eni has secured supply of additional LNG from Indonesia through a contract signed with Merakes LNG Sellers. The 3-year contract for supply of 0.8 billion cu m (bcm), will begin in January 2024.
The volumes, in addition to those supplied through a contract with Jangkrik LNG Sellers for 1.4 bcmy, in place since 2017, help Eni “ensure greater flexibility and further diversification” of its LNG supplies, the company said in a release Oct. 26.
This contract, together with the long-term contract recently signed with the Marine XII JV in Congo for 4.5 bcm of LNG, plus the contract with QatarEnergy LNG NFE for up to 1.5 bcm of LNG from the North Field East project, contributes to the buildup of Eni's LNG portfolio, it said (OGJ Online, Oct. 23, 2023).
Eni aims to more than double its contracted LNG volumes to over 18 million tonnes/year by 2026.
