NextDecade Corp. will supply LNG from its 27-million tonne/year (tpy) Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) liquefaction plant in Brownsville, Tex., to Itochu Corp., marking the company’s first deal with a Japanese customer, the company said in a release Jan. 19.
The companies signed a 15-year agreement for the purchase of 1.0 million tpy indexed to Henry Hub on a free-on-board basis.
NextDecade is targeting a positive final investment decision (FID) on the first three trains of the RGLNG export project during first-quarter 2023, with FIDs of its remaining trains to follow thereafter.
