Venture Global Plaquemines LNG awarded McDermott International Ltd.’s storage business, CB&I, a contract for two 200,000-cu m LNG storage tanks as part of the first phase of its 20-million tonne/year (tpy) Plaquemines LNG liquefaction plant.
On the Mississippi River, 20 miles south of New Orleans, Plaquemines LNG’s Phase 1 scope for CB&I includes engineering, procurement, and construction of two full containment concrete LNG storage tanks with associated foundations, tank-top mechanical systems, and pipe racks extending to the plant.
Venture Global expects to take final investment decision on Plaquemines LNG in early 2022, with first production targeted for 2024 (OGJ Online, Jan. 3, 2022).
CB&I recently achieved ready-for-cooldown as scheduled for two LNG tanks of similar size and scope for the 10-million tpy Venture Global Calcasieu Pass LNG project.
