Statoil, Sonatrach sign cooperation accord

Norway's Statoil ASA and Algeria's Sonatrach have sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) covering international cooperation.

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 8 -- Norway's Statoil ASA and Algeria's Sonatrach have sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) covering international cooperation.

Under the MOU, the companies will investigate the possibility of an integrated LNG project in Algeria, and they will cooperate in developing petroleum projects off Norway and elsewhere.

The agreement also entails cooperation in the areas of research and development, health, safety, and the environment, and drilling.
