Apache Corp. has named Rod Eichler president and COO, and Roger Plank president and chief corporate officer. John Crum, who served as co-chief operating officer and president — North America, has left Apache to become CEO of privately held Midstates Petroleum. Eichler will be responsible for Apache's 10 operating regions, worldwide drilling, gas monetization and worldwide projects. Roger Plank is assuming responsibilities for marketing and corporate purchasing, in addition to his management role in finance, administration and business development.Babst Calland adds attorneys to natural resources group
Law firm Babst Calland has added to its natural resources group. Energy attorney Arnold L. Schulberg has been named of counsel. Schulberg will assist the firm's natural resources group and will operate from his office in West Virginia. Schulberg, who is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio, brings 33 years of experience in providing oil, gas and mineral title opinions to clients. He is a former landman and attorney for a Pittsburgh-based oil and gas exploration and development company and has actively served as program chairman for the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and as a national officer of the American Association of Professional Landmen. Additionally, the firm added Kevin E. Feigel as an associate with experience in oil, gas and mineral title law and litigation. Most recently, Feigel handled such matters practicing for Cassidy, Kotjarapoglus & Pohland PC. He holds a JD from the University of Pittsburgh specializing in Environmental Law, Science and Policy, and a bachelor's degree from St. Vincent College.Northern Offshore appoints new senior vice president
Northern Offshore Ltd. has appointed Gary Bauer as senior vice president. With more than 35 years' experience in the drilling industry, Bauer joins Northern Offshore from Transocean where he was division manager, Egypt and Middle East, responsible for operations, business development and the financial performance of 17 rigs in numerous regions. Prior to this, he served in various area manager capacities with GlobalSantaFe. He holds a bachelor's degree from Colorado School of Mines.Texas Capital Bank opens Midland office
Texas Capital Bank's Energy Division has expanded into Midland, TX, with the hiring of energy banking expert Frank K. Stowers. Stowers joins Texas Capital Bank as a senior vice president with the Energy Division. His area of responsibility will be energy lending for West Texas/Permian Basin. Most recently, he was the credit director and senior vice president for Citibank in Midland. Stowers also served as market president for Citibank's Midland/Odessa market during his 12 year tenure. UK-based Brinker Technology has appointed Kenny McAllister as vice president of sales and operations. McAllister joins Brinker from Halliburton where he was most recently senior account manager. He holds over 16 years' experience bringing new technology to the oil and gas industry through a variety of roles in sales, operations and general management, and has worked across the world spending time in Europe, Africa, FSU and the Middle East. He brings knowledge of downhole and surface technologies together with expertise in new technology adoption and expansion.Solomon Associates names Brown VP of consulting
Solomon Associates, a performance improvement company for the global energy industry, has promoted Russell Brown to vice president of consulting. Brown joined Solomon Associates in 2006, co-authoring the Worldwide Advanced Process Control Performance Analysis (APC Study) and later leading the APC consulting practice. He has served as manager of refining consulting since 2009. Before Solomon Associates, Brown was director of advanced process control at URS Corp., a provider of engineering, construction and technical services. Brown earned his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees from Texas A&M University.BPZ executive chairman retires, Taylor named chairBPZ Resources Inc.'s executive chairman of the board, Dr. Fernando Zuniga y Rivero, 83, has retired and stepped down from all positions, including as a member of the board and executive officer of the company. The board named him "Chairman Emeritus." James B. Taylor, current lead independent director, has been named chairman. Dr. Zuniga y Rivero became executive chairman of BPZ in September 2004; prior to that he served as chairman of BPZ & Associates Inc., the former parent company of BPZ-Texas. He has over 60 years of experience in the industry. He holds bachelor's degrees in engineering and geological sciences and PhD degrees from the University of San Agustin, Arequipa, Peru, and completed the science program at UCLA. He received a "Doctor Honoris Causa" from the University of San Marcus of Lima, Peru. Taylor joined the BPZ board in February 2010. He holds over 47 years' experience in the industry, including stints as a director for four publicly held oil and gas companies and as executive vice president of Occidental Oil and Gas.FMC Technologies taps Gremp to succeed KinnearFMC Technologies Inc. has named John T. Gremp to succeed Peter D. Kinnear as president and CEO. Gremp has joined the company's board of directors. Kinnear will continue in the role of chairman until October 31, 2011, at which time Gremp will assume the additional role. Gremp was appointed president and COO of FMC in April, 2010. During his 35 year career, he has held a variety of management roles, recently serving as the executive vice president of energy systems in 2007 and vice president energy production in 2004.Winstead adds to energy, environmental groupLaw firm Winstead PC has added four attorneys to its Fort Worth office who will work in the firm's Energy and Environmental Law practice group. The attorneys include Jeffrey C. King, Jamie Lavergne Bryan, C. Scott Gladden, and Mitchell M. Murphy. King and Bryan join Winstead as shareholders, Gladden is of counsel, and Murphy is an associate. All four attorneys were formerly with K&L Gates. King's practice is focused entirely on oil and gas litigation. He received his JD cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law. Bryan's practice is 75% oil and gas litigation and 25% financial institution litigation. She received her JD cum laude from University of Houston Law Center. Gladden was in-house with Merit Energy Co. LLC, for almost eight years, the last two as general counsel. He received his JD from Baylor University School of Law. Murphy's practice focuses on commercial litigation with an emphasis in oil and gas litigation. He received his JD from Baylor University School of Law.Comstock COO retiresMack D. Good, COO of Comstock Resources Inc. retired effective March 15. Good had been with Comstock for 14 years after joining the company in 1997 to oversee the company's East Texas/North Louisiana district. He was named vice president of operations in 1999 and became Comstock's COO in 2004. Mark A. Williams, the company's engineering and operations manager, was named vice president of operations. Williams has been with Comstock for 15 years.J-W Wireline names Herald new presidentJ-W Wireline Co. has named James F. Herald president of the company. He succeeds Andrew Weaver who retired as president of the company in December to manage Excell Services LLC. James "Skip" Herald has 25 years of experience within various management and sales positions within the wireline industry. He graduated from the University of West Virginia with a bachelor's degree. J-W Wireline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of J-W Energy Co., headquartered in Addison, Texas. The company provides cased-hole logging services including perforating, logging, slickline, tubing conveyed perforating and pipe recovery services throughout United States.Dahlman Rose appoints Crandell global head of oilfield services researchDahlman Rose & Company LLC has named James Crandell managing director and Global Head of Oilfield Services Research. Crandell has more than 30 years of experience as a Wall Street analyst focusing on oilfield services. Previously, he served as managing director at Barclays Capital plc following its acquisition of Lehman Brothers in 2009. He joined Lehman Brothers in 1999 following the buyout of Salomon Brothers where he held various posts including managing director, senior oil services analyst and director of US equity research, before his promotion to global head of equity research in 1994. Crandell received an MBA from Hofstra University and a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University.Superior Energy Services promotes Dunlap, HardySuperior Energy Services Inc. has elected David Dunlap as president and Sam Hardy as an executive vice president. Dunlap joined the company as CEO in April of 2010 and will continue in that position. He most recently served as executive vice president and COO of BJ Services prior to its acquisition. Hardy joined the company with the acquisition of Warrior Energy Services Corp. in December 2006. He served as the COO of Warrior Energy since August 2000. Hardy has over 30 years' experience and holds a bachelor's degree from University of Louisiana – Lafayette (formerly University of Southwestern Louisiana).
