FisherChesapeake Energy Corp. announced the executive management team for its newly formed and wholly owned subsidiary Chesapeake Oilfield Services LLC (COS). Including Chesapeake's 30% interest in Frac Tech International LLC, the company has invested approximately $1.8 billion in its service companies. Subsidiaries of COS include the following: Nomac Drilling LLC, Performance Technologies LLC (PTL), Thunder Oilfield Services LLC, Compass Manufacturing LLC, MidCon Compression LLC, and CHK Directional Drilling LLC. Jerry L. Winchester joined COS as the company's first CEO. Winchester served as president and CEO of Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc. for 13 years until the company was acquired by Halliburton Corp. Prior to Boots & Coots, Winchester served in a variety of roles over 14 years with Halliburton. He received a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University. James G. "Jay" Minmier joined COS as president of Nomac Drilling and CHK Directional Drilling. Previously, Minmier served as vice president and general manager for Precision Drilling Corp. He has more than 20 years of experience in the drilling industry. Prior to working in the oilfield, Minmier was a captain in the US Air Force. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and an MBA from the University of West Florida. William R. "Bill" Stanger joined Chesapeake in January 2010 as president of Great Plains Oilfield Rentals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Chesapeake, and has assumed the role of president of PTL. Stanger served in a variety of management and operational positions for Schlumberger Ltd. for 23 years. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa. Zachary M. "Zac" Graves joined COS through Chesapeake's acquisition of Bronco Drilling Co. Inc., where he most recently served as executive vice president of operations and previously served as CFO. Graves serves as president of Thunder Oilfield Services. He received a BBA from the University of Oklahoma. David L. "Dave" Fisher was appointed chief administrative officer of COS in May 2011. Fisher previously served as vice president of drilling services for Chesapeake. Prior to joining Chesapeake in 2006, Fisher held management and executive management positions with Reading and Bates Offshore Drilling, NICOR Drilling, and others. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the University of Tulsa.Flow-Cal names new COO
DeMasieFlow-Cal Inc., a provider of natural gas and liquid measurement applications, recently appointed Michael DeMasie as COO. DeMasie has over 25 years of technology and industry experience, and joins Flow-Cal from SunGard Energy and Commodities. DeMasie held positions including senior vice president of sales, professional services, and product development over the course of his 10 years with SunGard. Prior, he held senior positions at both Enron and NASA. He holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue University, a master's degree from Southern Methodist University, and a master's degree from the University of Houston.Quorum adds Piacenti to executive team
PiacentiQuorum Business Solutions Inc., a provider of business and information technology solutions for the oil, gas, and renewable energy industry, has added Rick Piacenti to its senior executive team as executive vice president of finance and chief administrative officer. Piacenti has worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years. Prior to joining Quorum, he was executive vice president and CFO for Milagro Exploration LLC where he was a founding partner. Prior to that, he held a variety of executive management positions, including executive vice president and CFO of Mission Resources Inc. as well as vice president and controller for both El Paso Production Co. Inc. and Cornerstone Natural Gas Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and is both a certified public accountant and certified management accountant.Stuckey to succeed Williford as Abraxas CFOSan Antonio-based Abraxas Petroleum Corp. has elected Barbara M. Stuckey to serve as vice president and CFO and George William "Bill" Krog, Jr. has been elected to serve as chief accounting officer and treasurer. Chris E. Williford, executive vice president, CFO and treasurer, has resigned from the company to accept a job in an executive position with a private company. Stuckey joined Abraxas in 1997 and most recently served as vice president – corporate finance. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an MBA from the Bordeaux Business School. Krog joined the company in 1995 and most recently served as Information Systems/Financial Reporting Director. WestermanEnergy services and energy development company J-W Energy Co. has promoted Paul D. Westerman to senior executive vice president and chief business development officer. As a result of the restructuring, all Business Unit presidents previously reporting to Westerman as COO will return to reporting directly to Gene Gradick, president of J-W Energy Co. In his new role, Westerman will report directly to Howard Westerman, CEO. Paul Westerman earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and then went on to work as a reservoir engineer for Phillips Petroleum Co. and then Kerr-McGee Corp. In 1984, he joined the organization to manage the exploration and production operations where he eventually was promoted to president of Cohort Energy Co. In January 2005, he was promoted to COO of the company.Southwestern elects COOWilliam J. Way has joined Southwestern Energy Co. as COO responsible for all of the company's exploration and production operations. Way earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and has an MBA from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Way joined BG Group plc in 2007 as senior vice president, Americas, with responsibility for E&P, midstream and LNG operations in the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Bolivia, Canada and Argentina as well as BG's global shipping business. He began his career at Conoco in 1981 and, over the course of his more than 27 year tenure, he held a wide range of senior leadership positions in E&P, LNG, midstream and shipping operations in the United States, Scotland, United Arab Emirates, and Trinidad and Tobago. GilmoreJerel C. "Jerry" Gilmore has been appointed president of TSB Offshore Inc. (formerly Twachtman Snyder & Byrd Inc.). He has over 37 years experience in the oil and gas construction industry and most recently served as vice president operations for Proserv Offshore. As president, Gilmore will lead the oil and gas decommissioning liability consultancy and project management work of TSB Offshore. Gilmore has held positions of vice president of operations, vice president of projects, construction department manager, project manager and project engineer at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, Pennzoil Exploration and Production Company (presently Devon Energy), and consultant to El Paso Energy Corp. and at Proserv Offshore Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, TX and is a licensed professional engineer in Texas.Peyto adds Lachance as VP of exploitationPeyto Exploration & Development Corp. has named Jean-Paul Lachance, P. Eng. as vice president of exploitation. Lachance has over 20 years of industry experience including significant Deep Basin expertise. In addition, the company's current manager of exploitation, Enrico Espirito, will become manager of engineering and business development. Espirito has been with Peyto since 2006. KennedyPaul Kennedy has joined the Solomon Associates as the company's vice president of Asia operations, based in Singapore. Kennedy brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil refining and consulting industries. He has spent more than 14 years working in Asia, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia, Japan and China. Most recently, Kennedy served as senior vice president for Asia consulting for KBC, where he led significant growth in Asia-based resources and operations revenue. Prior to this he managed and executed numerous consultancy assignments, including on-site opportunity implementation and continuing improvement projects. Michael Hileman, who has served as vice president of Asia operations since June 2010, will return to Solomon Associates' Dallas office this fall.DeVoren joins energy law firm of Burleson LLPHouston-based energy law firm Burleson LLP has added Ivan DeVoren as a partner in its Pittsburgh office. DeVoren, who has practiced environmental law for over two decades, holds a broad background in all areas of environmental law, including those that impact oil and gas exploration and production, storage, site development, waste and wastewater management, and air and water emissions. His areas of concentration also include corporate and securities; mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; real estate; natural resources; and business and contracts. DeVoren has counseled and represented industrial, commercial, and energy clients in connection with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulatory programs, including those related to natural gas exploration, production, processing and distribution, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and alternative and renewable energy. Champion has over 17 years of experience developing and marketing projects in the oil and gas industry through industry partnerships and NASD broker-dealers. He was vice president of a privately held oil and natural gas exploration company for nearly 12 years between 1995 and 2007. Prior to working in the exploration industry, he worked for 10 years with a Fortune 500 chemical manufacturing company that supplied specialty chemicals directly to the oil and gas and coal mining industries. Champion attended Western Kentucky University and has previously held NASD Series 63 and 22 licenses.Miller Energy to expand management teamMiller Energy Resources has launched a national search to expand its management team as part of the company's strategy to manage its continued growth. Dave Voyticky, Miller's president, will take on the additional responsibilities as acting CFO while the company searches for a new CFO. The company is also looking to expand its financial staff with a senior manager for Miller's financial reporting and regulatory compliance function. The legal department will also be expanded. Miller's focus is in Cook Inlet, Alaska and in the heart of Tennessee's hydrocarbon-rich Appalachian Basin including the Chattanooga Shale. Miller is headquartered in Huntsville, Tennessee with offices in Anchorage, Alaska and Knoxville, Tennessee.Apache adds Montgomery to board of directorsApache Corp. has appointed William C. Montgomery, a managing director of Quantum Energy Partners, to its board of directors. Montgomery is a member of Quantum's executive and investment committees, involved in setting of the firm's strategy and responsible for originating and overseeing investments in the oil and gas upstream, midstream, and oilfield service sectors. Prior to joining Quantum, Montgomery was a partner in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. During his 22 years as a banker, Montgomery focused on large cap energy companies primarily in the upstream and oil service sectors. He earned his BBA from the University of Texas and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.Magellan Petroleum CEO steps down as company moves to DenverThe board of directors of Magellan Petroleum Co. has voted to move the company headquarters from Portland, Maine to Denver, Co. As a result of this decision, William H. Hastings, CEO and president of Magellan Petroleum, has elected to step aside from his position as CEO and president. He will remain on the board of directors and will be submitted for another three-year term in the upcoming Proxy. Hastings will also remain central in the company's activities as senior advisor on growth ventures and business development. The board has appointed J. Thomas Wilson, currently acting as a consultant to Magellan Petroleum, as the new CEO and president of the company and he will lead the organization from its headquarters in Denver. Wilson will remain as a director of the company and also stand for re-election in December for an additional three year term.
