Paul Kennedy has joined the Solomon Associates as the company's vice president of Asia operations, based in Singapore. Kennedy brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil refining and consulting industries. He has spent more than 14 years working in Asia, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia, Japan and China. Most recently, Kennedy served as senior vice president for Asia consulting for KBC, where he led significant growth in Asia-based resources and operations revenue. Prior to this he managed and executed numerous consultancy assignments, including on-site opportunity implementation and continuing improvement projects. Michael Hileman, who has served as vice president of Asia operations since June 2010, will return to Solomon Associates' Dallas office this fall. | DeVoren joins energy law firm of Burleson LLP | Houston-based energy law firm Burleson LLP has added Ivan DeVoren as a partner in its Pittsburgh office. DeVoren, who has practiced environmental law for over two decades, holds a broad background in all areas of environmental law, including those that impact oil and gas exploration and production, storage, site development, waste and wastewater management, and air and water emissions. His areas of concentration also include corporate and securities; mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures; real estate; natural resources; and business and contracts. DeVoren has counseled and represented industrial, commercial, and energy clients in connection with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulatory programs, including those related to natural gas exploration, production, processing and distribution, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and alternative and renewable energy. DeVoren earned his undergraduate degree from Penn State's Smeal College of Business and his law degree cum laude from the Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia. |
Polsinelli Shughart grows energy practice | Matthew E. Ross has joined Polsinelli Shughart as a shareholder in the firm's business department where he will focus his practice on all aspects of energy law including assisting clients with developing renewable energy projects and in achieving energy efficient business practices. Ross focuses his practice on energy law and has extensive experience in renewable energy, both from a transactional and regulatory perspective. He advises project developers, lenders, tax equity investors, private equity funds and technology suppliers and distributors on developing and financing renewable energy projects and on other energy transactions. Ross earned his law degree from the Brooklyn Law School and his bachelor's degree from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the Energy Bar Association. Ross holds LEED professional accreditation, the leading professional designation for the green building, construction and development industry. |
Champion joins Encore management team | William "Bill" Champion has officially been named vice president of business development for Encore Energy Inc. Champion has over 17 years of experience developing and marketing projects in the oil and gas industry through industry partnerships and NASD broker-dealers. He was vice president of a privately held oil and natural gas exploration company for nearly 12 years between 1995 and 2007. Prior to working in the exploration industry, he worked for 10 years with a Fortune 500 chemical manufacturing company that supplied specialty chemicals directly to the oil and gas and coal mining industries. Champion attended Western Kentucky University and has previously held NASD Series 63 and 22 licenses. |
Miller Energy to expand management team | Miller Energy Resources has launched a national search to expand its management team as part of the company's strategy to manage its continued growth. Dave Voyticky, Miller's president, will take on the additional responsibilities as acting CFO while the company searches for a new CFO. The company is also looking to expand its financial staff with a senior manager for Miller's financial reporting and regulatory compliance function. The legal department will also be expanded. Miller's focus is in Cook Inlet, Alaska and in the heart of Tennessee's hydrocarbon-rich Appalachian Basin including the Chattanooga Shale. Miller is headquartered in Huntsville, Tennessee with offices in Anchorage, Alaska and Knoxville, Tennessee. |
Apache adds Montgomery to board of directors | Apache Corp. has appointed William C. Montgomery, a managing director of Quantum Energy Partners, to its board of directors. Montgomery is a member of Quantum's executive and investment committees, involved in setting of the firm's strategy and responsible for originating and overseeing investments in the oil and gas upstream, midstream, and oilfield service sectors. Prior to joining Quantum, Montgomery was a partner in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. During his 22 years as a banker, Montgomery focused on large cap energy companies primarily in the upstream and oil service sectors. He earned his BBA from the University of Texas and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. |
Magellan Petroleum CEO steps down as company moves to Denver | The board of directors of Magellan Petroleum Co. has voted to move the company headquarters from Portland, Maine to Denver, Co. As a result of this decision, William H. Hastings, CEO and president of Magellan Petroleum, has elected to step aside from his position as CEO and president. He will remain on the board of directors and will be submitted for another three-year term in the upcoming Proxy. Hastings will also remain central in the company's activities as senior advisor on growth ventures and business development. The board has appointed J. Thomas Wilson, currently acting as a consultant to Magellan Petroleum, as the new CEO and president of the company and he will lead the organization from its headquarters in Denver. Wilson will remain as a director of the company and also stand for re-election in December for an additional three year term. |
