HOUSTON, May 19 – Lundin Norway AS, Stockholm, said its 16/1-15A sidetrack on the Tellus prospect off Norway has proved a 50-m oil column and will be included in the Luno development program.
The oil column at the discovery in the PL338 block included a thin Lower Cretaceous sandstone with excellent reservoir quality overlying fractured basement, Lundin Norway said. Initial gross contingent resource range for the Tellus discovery is estimated at 11-55 million bbl of oil equivalent, 90% oil, an independently audited figure.
Lundin, operator of PL338 with 50% interest, drilled the 16/1-15A well to 1,986 m true vertical depth below sea level using the Bredford Dolphin semisubmersible (see map, OGJ, Apr. 4, 2011, p. 50). Lundin’s partners are Wintershall Norge ASA with 30% and RWE Dea Norge AS 20%.
